ESJ hit Rackham for four!

13th June 2019

On Thursday 13th June we had our second football league match of the season at home to Rackham. Always a tough fixture, made harder by the wet bumpy pitch, the first half was a close fought affair. Ely took the lead just before half time when super sub Brendan scored with his very first touch. That was the only goal of the first half, thanks to solid defending and some fine saves by Callum in goal. After the break, Ely dominated the game with fantastic, fast, flowing football. Archie scored two quick goals putting the team 3-0 up. Rackham  got one back before a great ball in from the left was turned in by the fox in the box Ben to make the final score 4-1. This was a superb team performance with all 9 players working extremely hard throughout the game. Player of the match was Ashdon who ran the game from the centre of midfield, breaking up countless Witchford attacks and supplying the Ely forwards with beautifully weighted passes throughout.
