What a Sporty Week!

8th June 2018
Y5 and 6 pupils at ESJ have enjoyed a super-sporty week.

On Wednesday morning, some of the Year 5s resumed their swimming lessons at the Hive. We take all pupils in Y5 who need a little bit of support towards the KS2 target of swimming 25 metres. The children have been really enjoying the new facilities.

Later that afternoon, a team of Y6 children headed up to March for a cricket tournament. They performed brilliantly, finishing second in their group, and only just missing out on qualification for the county finals.

On Thursday, Mr Poli's class and Mrs Geeson's class also enjoyed a cricket tournament against each other. The classes were each split into two teams, who then played each other. Mr Poli's class were the narrow victors, but all of the children worked hard and played the game with a wonderful, supportive spirit.

After school on Thursday, the school football team took on Fordham for our third match of the season. ESJ played really well but came up against a fantastic side. Despite an excellent goal from Michael, Fordham ran out 7-1 winners.

And if all this wasn't enough, two Y6 netball teams from St John's went to a tournament at Soham VC on Friday. The teams played really well and finished highly in their groups, despite this being the first time that some of the players had ever played a competitive match!

After all that, it's time for an ice bath and a few months off!
