Year 2 Blog 2022-2023

The children enjoyed working with numbers this week. They partitioned two digit numbers into tens and ones. They used dienes, straws, counters, bead strings, ten frames and other practical resources to make different amounts. They also had a go at writing numbers with words.
We made animal finger puppets and their habitats. Children were very creative with their ideas and they all look amazing.
In RE we talked about being thankful for the food that we eat. We explored how bread is being baked, starting from seed ending up as food on our tables. We tasted different bread and baked one in school following a simple recipe.
We also watched a live harvest assembly and attempted to make a giant human harvest combiner.
Our visit to Ely library was a success. We read lots of books, listened to stories and borrowed some book to read in school.
We had a lovely time in the allotment cooking flat bread. It tasted delicious with some strawberry and apricot jam on top.
Diwali activity morning was a success. Children painted their hands with Mindi patterns, made firework pictures, dressed up in traditional Indian clothes, made a card, printed patters, decorated rangoli patters, looked at Indian artefacts and many more interesting activities.
Our Christmas production was a magical 'Miracle in Town'. Well done Year 2, we are very proud!
World Book Day 2023!
World Book Day 2023!
South Angle Farm Park

What a lovely time we had at the farm! The children enjoyed holding and feeding different animals as well as having an outdoor picnic. They loved playing on the outdoor equipment too and were tired out by the end of the day.
His Majesty King Charles III Coronation

The children had a great time on Friday celebrating the King's coronation. We created some art, wrote cards and made a giant paper chain!

Then, in the afternoon the children enjoyed an extra playtime, dodging the rain and thunder, coming back into class for a picnic and a disco.

At the end of the day Year 2 came together to sing a special song they have been learning in Singing Assemblies over the last few weeks. They sounded lovely! Well done.

To celebrate the end of our Great Fire of London topic, we burned the houses we made out of paper and cooked scrambled eggs on the fire pit.
This week we had Sports Day. We enjoyed all the different activities and the ice lolly reward at the end was very welcome.
