Year 6 Blog and Newsletter Spring 2022

Beetle Boy
This term, we are reading Beetle Boy by M.G. Leonard. In the story, Darkus tries to solve the mystery behind his Dad's disappearance and along the way, becomes an expert in beetles of every kind. As we read, we are becoming pretty expert too.
Here are some of our drawings. First, we used black pen to show shape and texture and tried to make our beetles as life like as possible.
Then, we used our imaginations and colour to create intricate and ambitious patterns.

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year!

 It is lovely to see so many children back in school and we hope we all stay healthy for as long as possible!

If your child is off school but is well enough to work on school topics, we have activities on the Year 6 Remote Learning Page to keep your child up to date with what we are doing in school. We are reading from the class book "Beetle Boy" by MG Leonard and there are extracts on the web page so you can read along and then know where we are when you return to school.

Please can children wear extra layers in school as we are opening doors and windows to keep air flow moving but it is pretty chilly! If your child has an extra fleece or jumper, they can wear it in class when the days are really cold. Also, we try to go out every time it is PE so again, please ensure your child has warm PE clothes.

This term, our PE days are as follows;

Class 6X Mr Preston indoor PE Tuesday (children must have green school shorts for PE as we are doing gymnastics in the hall) and outdoors on Wednesday. Ideally, children could wear shorts under their joggers but they can get changed in school.

Class 6Y Ms Fellows indoor PE Thursday (children must have green school shorts for PE as we are doing gymnastics in the hall) and outdoors on Friday.

Please ensure children have a hair bobble to tie up long hair.
