Music is very important at Ely St John's. Children have many opportunities to take part in musical activities ranging from whole-school weekly singing assemblies to individual instrumental lessons. There is something for everyone!
Children in key stage 2 can join the choir as an extracurricular activity, learning many songs and focusing on the musical aspect of performing. The choir takes part in many events and concerts throughout the school year.
Through our partnership with Cambridgeshire Music, we offer the following lessons for children in year 3 and above:
- brass (trombone, trumpet)
- woodwind (flute, clarinet)
- cello
- violin
We also host guitar and piano tuition.
Instrumentalists can join the orchestra to experience playing collectively and performing to audiences. The orchestra rehearses every week before school.
In addition, we hold informal concerts and performances throughout the year, providing children with opportunities to showcase their talents.
