Innovating stories
This week, the children have worked hard to innovate the Fox and The Star story, changing the characters to different woodland animals. They have done a great job at retelling their innovated stories; some children created puppets to do so! They had the opportunity to share their story maps with the Year 6s, who enjoyed hearing all of their wonderful ideas. Foundation stage then enjoyed listening to stories read to them by the Year 6s. Take a look below at some of the brilliant story maps and puppets, and for the ESJ storytelling version of The Fox and The Star!

The Fox and The Star
This week, we have been retelling the story of The Fox and The Star, learning more about the characters and the habitat they live in. The children have been creating some lovely work surrounding the story and the woodland habitat, and have created artwork inspired by the illustrations in the book by Coralie Bickford-Smith. Have a look at some of their work below! We have also had a visit from Stories in the Dark, sharing the story of The Fox and The Badger using a projector and puppets in the dark tent.

Author Visit
Author Chip Colquhoun came to open the new St John’s school library. The children found out that storytelling was more than 40,000 years old! Chip then told them a story about a princess and a wicked witch; they really enjoyed joining in with all of the actions to help tell the story!

New Outdoor Area!
Over the Easter holidays, the EYFS courtyard had a transformation! The children were very excited and enjoyed exploring and using all of the new areas and equipment. They have been working together as a team to dig holes and move gravel in the digging area and have practiced their balancing and climbing skills in the climbing area. Have a look at the photos below to see the children enjoying the new space. Thank you to the Thomas Parsons Charity, Outdoor Classrooms, Lucy Conochie Designs, and Barcham Trees for all of their support with the redevelopment work.
