Food technology
  • Design—children choose what they want in their salad
  • Introduction of using tools (knives/boards)
  • Links to food—learning about where food comes from, basic food preparation and hygiene
  • Evaluate—learn skills of evaluating work
Mechanics of wheels/axles/levers (not vehicles)
  • Design—use range of materials to explore how wheels/axles/levers work. Generate model and communicate ideas.
  • Construction opportunities/Junk modelling
  • Design and plan model of Knex toy, Duplo structure etc and share with peer.
  • Evaluate—develop evaluating skills by seeing if model matches plan.
  • Design sensory garden—generate model and communicate ideas.
  • Build on skills learnt in Foundation.
